Prints
I do all my own printing, which means that every time a print is ordered it's going through my
hands and in front of my eyes before it's sent out to it's new home. Even though this results
in more work than just sending everything through a lab, the extra control I have over the
entire printing process is worth it.
My standard prints are offered in five sizes, from 4x6 through 16x24. I use a heavyweight
matte finish paper that allows for excellent color reproduction without the sensitive and
sometimes fragile surface of a "traditional" glossy photo print. The image area of
each print is slightly smaller than the paper size, allowing for a thin border which not only
protects the printed image but looks nice as well.
I also offer fine art prints in larger sizes, from 8x12 through 16x24. For these prints I
use a heavy 260gsm, slightly textured art paper with a 100% cotton rag, acid free base. This is
my paper of choice for much of my personal printing and for exhibitions. It's an especially
gorgeous paper for black & white printing. Each print is sprayed with a protective coating,
which protects against light, moisture and airborne contaminants and extends the life of your
investment. These prints also have a thin border just like my standard prints.
Digital images
Digital images are available in three sizes: 600 and 800 pixels on the long side, both at
screen resolution, and a print resolution file sized to 8x12 inches. The screen resolution
images are redesigned for display on Myspace, Livejournal, blogs, email, and that sort of
thing. The small pixel dimensions of these options make them very unsuitable for printing.
If you want to purchase a file to make your own prints from then the 8x12 print resolution
file is what you want. These files are resized to 8x12 inches at 300 dpi, though you can make
smaller prints from them as well. All my editing is performed on a hardware calibrated and
profiled monitor so these files will produce excellent prints when output properly.
